Our senior students studying New Media Strategy and Analytics had the chance to listen to a guest speaker on the topic "New Media Strategy and Web Analytics".
Mr Tan Kian Ann is a TP graduate from 2001 and set up his own business 4 years ago. He started with web development and proceeded onto Search Engine Optimization (SEO) as he realised the importance of it for businesses.
He shared with us his knowledge on SEO and analytics. He also share his experience on working with clients and the practices he use. Showing us some of his clients and the results of the work, he explained what he does for his clients and how it has impacted the clients' businesses.

Rich Media Application Development (RMAD) - Insights on the module
Saturday, 2 April 2011 tags Distributed Media, Juniors, Module, Reflections
Hey peeps, Danielle here! Semester 2.2 has ended for me and I would like to talk a little about Rich Media Application Development which is a Distributed Media elective. In case you do not know what are electives, in Interactive Media Informatics, everyone has to choose from 3 options in Semester 2.1. The options are Distributed Media, Edumatics and 3D. So I'm from the Distributed Media option and Im here to talk about one of the electives I took.
Rich Media Application Development (RMAD) is about developing a Flash website based on e-commerce themes. So this is my work for the project. My group created a flash website that provides stock photos. Its like Photobucket or iStockPhoto. Basically visitors have to sign up for an account to be able to download the images or stock photos. Registered users can comment and add favourites to photos and follow other users. The concept is also derived from Facebook to give users more interaction.
The difference between the normal e-commerce websites and this flash website is that you will get to see a lot of animations and transitions from page to page. This is created in Flash Builder and also involves the use of database and mySQL to function.
I would say that creating this website was a very tedious process. Also because it is in term-mode which means we only had 8 weeks to finish this, we spent a lot of time experiementing with the codes as not everything is being taught in class.
Its all about self-exploration and testing to get things the way you want them to work. Flash Builder has already quicken up the process of creating such websites and all we have to do is learn how to use the different functions it offers.
I hope that I haven given a deeper insight to our freshies becoming juniors this april and also to anyone who wants to understand what we do.

Hey... Have not been visiting to this blog recently... I was busy on getting quite a number of resources and doing some research to prepare myself for Major Project... Yup...
Ok... It has been 2 months in Penang doing our OSIP (Oversea Student Internship Program, did i get it right? :P)... Work load else, we are managing quite well somehow... Of course we do have our ups and downs during this period of time... But we did learn quite a number of things when we helped each others on our individual works sometimes... Sharing is caring... :)
Just wanna show you guys a couple of corporate websites done by Yong Han and Edmund from the Distributed Multimedia option... MilleGlasses (http://www.milleglasses.com) and ERP (http://www.iripcd.com/erp/index.html)... Cool right? You can go to google and search Milleglasses and it is right there! Hehe... This need some kind of 'tricks'...
There are more websites that we have done... But still not upload yet... We also did some Flash Promotional/Presentation CD for some of our company's services and products... Too bad cant show you guys as it is coporate stuff... Yup...
K lahz... Enough of work stuff... Now come to a MORE interesting topic... We learnt to make full use of the local public bus transport and travelled to Queensbay Mall for shopping! Hehehe... The public transport system here is not as good as in Singapore as most of the locals here own at least one to two transport vehicles... So there is no point to have a good public transport system here...

Anyway... here we are... In Queensbay Mall, we did shoppings... Like clothings, toys, accessories, magazines, and other stuff... Some of us also went to Salon for a hair cut, medicure and we had dinner and watch movies together! Movie tickets here is 10RM on Sunday!!! Yoohoo... Muahahahaha... And i got myself a quite rare Super-Deformed Gundam model kit and C-3PO Mighty Muggs for my friend...
I think after staying oversea for awhile, we are able to adapt to the lifestyle quite well... Looking after each other, getting daily necessities, explore the place around and learning to be more independent... We even made our very own 'Music Video'... Hahaha... Yeah... K lahz... Better off to sleep soon... Do stay tune for next week on Alastair's blog entry... Cause we will be going to have a great time next week! Hehehe... Till next time!

Greetings to all!
This is where we as IMI students make our imagination as inspiration.
We are a bunch of year 2s and year 3s in Temsasek Polytechnic IIT School Diploma in Interactive Media Informatics. This blog will consist of our works, thoughts and complaints(joking!) from school. Please feel free to go ahead and comment on our posts but please do not use our works as yours as it is plagerism.
Just to give a brief introduction of our course. We study website design in year1. Basic photography, CRAP (Consistency, Repetition, Alignment, Proximity) principles, a little of Java programming, logo design and many more.
Once entering year2, you will learn film development like filming, video/audio editing and post editing. You will be briefly exposed to 3D modelling and once you finish the first semester, you will have to choose your majors - Distributed Multimedia, 3D animation and our new major is Edumatics. All 3 majors have their own pros and cons but you will have to decide what you would like to do in the future. That is all for now. Be sure to tune in weekly for our updated posts.
Just to give you an overview of what I've done the past 2 years.
So you've seen what we do, if you are a someone looking to do something fun, interesting and amazing. Do join us! Visit www-iit.tp.edu.sg for more details!
Anyway apart from me, there will be 5 other students and 1 more Lecturer that will be blogging.
I am Alastair from year 3 signing off!
Seeya next time.
