Tis the season for deadlines...

Arggghh.... deadlines for students, markings for lecturers...

While i see a lot of comments/ enquiries on the course itself, I think i would put up some students' work so that we can drool at their masterpieces. Our regular bloggers also showcased their work in the very first few posts. Do check it out.

Module: Introduction to 3D (Year 2, semester 1)

by Shavonne Wong
We went TEKONG!!!
While the folks are enjoying themselves in Penang, we at IIT also went "overseas" to Pulau Tekong. Ms Cherry and I were super excited for obvious reasons...
Stress Management Talk
While all of the students are super burnt out, Mdm Faridah, our IT school counsellor gave a talk on how to beat the stress... literally ... wham... boom... punch...

Later folks...
Yoz... It's been a week since the four of us in Penang doing internship with a company named Pplus... Like Miss Cherry had mentioned to us, everything looks almost the same as Singapore except not as much tall buildings as it is in Singapore... A lot of great food here... First day when we met the boss, we mentioned about losing weights when we have free time... And guess what did the boss say? "You can forget about losing weight here in Penang... In Penang, there is nothing but good food..." Glups... I can pictured myself being another 5kg after internship... :S

The working environment here is great except abit messy... The upper management treats the staff well... At the same time, kinda stress while we working on projects... It is TOTALLY different from school assignments! In school, we have guidelines, marking scheme, lecture notes & tutorials, classmates' & lecturers' help and at least one month deadline for submission... Over here, we are given real industry projects to do and the deadline is much much shorter! Each one of us were given different tasks to work on individually... Imagine, everyday 9am to 6pm you are WORKING on Flash website whole day long... It's quite tiring somehow... Currently, our usual deadline is one week duration... Back in school, i usually take my own sweet time (1-2 hours per day) to do my assignments as i like to explore and play around with different stuff... That is why it is important to do your own research and explore during schooling time... Otherwise, when come to work, you will be lost and panic as the deadline is shorter...

My supervisor, Mr Bernard, is very nice to us too... Bring us around in Penang for the first week after work... We even went to the Beach Cafe which you don't find it in Singapore... The feel is totally different... And during the weekend, he also brought us to places like Toys Muesum (My FAVOURITE!!!), beach, Butterfly Farm and had fresh durians in the hill for 20 RM!!! We also went to Queensway Bay to shop around... *Note: Currently Malaysia having MEGA Sale! Up to 70%!!!* Opps... Did i tempt Miss Natasha and Miss Cherry too? Muahahahahaha...

Anyway, stay tuned for more... Currently rushing another project... Doing some Flash presentation material for one of my bosses... Deadline? 2-3 days... :S GLHF!!! (Good Luck Have Fun)
Heyy. Its me again. heh.

Erm... hows life everyone? haha. I know Shawn is having a ball of time over at MIT. haha. wish i was there (for a holiday).

Oh and on a lighter note:

SINGAPORE
ERP SYSTEM IN YEAR 2010

SINGAPORE ERP SYSTEM IN YEAR 2015

Don’t be too happy, this will be next.

And next
Still on internship ...

Haha... some must be thinking why am I harping on SIP/ IP/ OSIP/ MP ... coz it is one of the most important phase in poly life. I saw my student 2 days ago at Eastpoint, he's attached to one of the bigger companies, for a moment, I was afraid he would turn up late for work like he did for lessons (tho not always la). But he gave me "thumbs up" ... and looking at how smartly he's dressed, i think he's really grown throughout the 2 years here. *grin

Anyways, I managed to get Shawn's pics at MIT... "he was the chosen one" to represent IMI due to the wonderful 3D work he did. I WANNA GO TOO!!!!

Their LT ... no sight of powerpoint slides... good old chalk and blackboard

Entrance to MIT

Shawn... obviously having the time of his life :)
Hey guys, been long since I last posted an entry here. Sorry, was kinda occupied with various stuffs here and there.

Anyway, congrats to you Ms. Jean for getting hitched! I wonder when will it be their turn for the remaining ladies (Erm, you know who you are) in the IMI Teaching team, haha!

Okay, to add on to Ms. Natasha's previous post about internship, I'm here to give my views on Overseas Internship. As some of you may know, overseas internship is optional. Choosing an overseas internship might be a hard choice at first as there were many factors involved. Worries about being alone out there without friends, expenses, or even missing your loved ones back home as the attachment usually lasts about 4 months. But instead of worrying about the present, think about the future. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that will open many doors along the way. You will meet new people and expand your circle of friends, learn to be dependent, know their culture and share ours with them, and gain valuable experiences through this period.

I will be sharing my experience here in this blog when I leave for Australia for my Overseas Internship sometime late July. I think same goes with Alastair and Raymond who will be going to Penang and also 2 of our classmates who will be going to Vietnam. Will try to post some photos here for sharing too!

Oh, not to forget, Alastair has done a great job by posting photos of our recent Ipoh Adventure Trip and Japan Study Trip at our IMI Noticeboard. It is located at Block 3 Level 5 outside the labs, do take a look!

Till then, seeya soon.....
An IMI affair :)

2 weeks ago, our IMI staff belle got hitched, she is now lawfully Mdm Jean. It was a joyous occasion; so almost half of the staff was deployed to help out at the wedding, from being a bridesmaid, emcee, driver, photographer, the list goes on ...

Highlight of the day: Ms Cherry caught the wedding bouquet... so guess she's next on the list.

MP/SIP/IP/OSIP

During lessons, we often mention "in the real world, blah blah blah"... now it's time for the seniors to step into the real world.

The seniors have gone for their internship, some has applied for overseas internship, whereas some would do their Major Project in school first.

One of our IMI students got an 2 months attachment at the prestigious MIT in Massachusetts. See if I can get some photos from him.

Anyways, wherever the students are, here's wishing them good luck and stay positive. Some would face disappointment, some would love the freedom from homework... I say... it's just part of the our life learning curve.
Kk... I actually wanna post about CG Overdrive abit... But since SOMEONE was slightly faster than me, so i shall blog about something else... Was browsing through some of my internet bookmarks, went to a website - Pixelsumo... It is actually a blog about play, exploring the boundaries of interaction design, video games, toys and playgrounds... Mr Jonathan Pillai introduced this website to me as we were talking about some interactive stuff...

In fact, our course involves in quite a number of interactive projects and our lecturers are very supportive... My interest in interactive stuff came from our recent Japan trip where we got exposed to some interactive project and even play around with it... Tats why i'm excited about my upcoming oversea attachment in Penang which we will be involve in some interactive projects... In fact i was hoping to do really cool 3D stuff, guess i will spend my free time over there on practising animation skill...

Anyway, here's the main topic... Burno Taylor, whom just completed a Masters in Industrial Design at Central Saint Martin, came out with a couple of playful ideas... One of it is to hijacking public spaces to make them more playful and they went to add swings to London bus stops... Check out the video here...

"71% of adults used to play on the streets when they were young. 21% of children do so now. Are we designing children and play out of the public realm?
This project is a study into different ways of bringing play back into public space. It focuses on ways of incorporating incidental play in the public realm by not so much as having separate play equipment that dictates the users but by using existing furniture and architectural elements that indicate playful behaviour for all.
It asks us to question the current framework for public space and whether it is sufficient while also giving permission for young people to play in public.
Play as you go… Bruno Taylor...
I personally think it's a great idea and very interesting... The most interesting part is where they dare to make it come true! Of course i'm NOT encouraging anyone here to 'hijacking' public spaces in Singapore... But i'm just envy of these people who can express their creativity freely and this is one thing you do not really see anyone doing it except vandalisation... Don't you think it is fun and interesting to express your creativity in the public? But of course, we need to have people whom really appreciate it... Yup...

K lahz... That's all for today... Stay tuned for more!
