In fact, our course involves in quite a number of interactive projects and our lecturers are very supportive... My interest in interactive stuff came from our recent Japan trip where we got exposed to some interactive project and even play around with it... Tats why i'm excited about my upcoming oversea attachment in Penang which we will be involve in some interactive projects... In fact i was hoping to do really cool 3D stuff, guess i will spend my free time over there on practising animation skill...
Anyway, here's the main topic... Burno Taylor, whom just completed a Masters in Industrial Design at Central Saint Martin, came out with a couple of playful ideas... One of it is to hijacking public spaces to make them more playful and they went to add swings to London bus stops... Check out the video here...
"71% of adults used to play on the streets when they were young. 21% of children do so now. Are we designing children and play out of the public realm?
This project is a study into different ways of bringing play back into public space. It focuses on ways of incorporating incidental play in the public realm by not so much as having separate play equipment that dictates the users but by using existing furniture and architectural elements that indicate playful behaviour for all.
It asks us to question the current framework for public space and whether it is sufficient while also giving permission for young people to play in public.
Play as you go…” Bruno Taylor...I personally think it's a great idea and very interesting... The most interesting part is where they dare to make it come true! Of course i'm NOT encouraging anyone here to 'hijacking' public spaces in Singapore... But i'm just envy of these people who can express their creativity freely and this is one thing you do not really see anyone doing it except vandalisation... Don't you think it is fun and interesting to express your creativity in the public? But of course, we need to have people whom really appreciate it... Yup...
K lahz... That's all for today... Stay tuned for more!
